BC Children's 'Drug Cocktails' website completes major content updates

Dr. Dean Elbe, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, BC Children's Hospital Healthy Minds Centre | October 18, 2021 | 1 minute

The Drug Cocktails Website has just completed a major content update, with updated research and over 45 new medications added to the database in Summer 2021.

DrugCocktails is the go-to, trustworthy website for youth and professionals to 'get the facts' about the risks of mixing prescription medications and substances of abuse.

The site contains information on interactions between 10 different classes of substances of abuse (such as alcohol, cannabis or opioids) and over 330 different medications used by youth, all in an intuitive, easy to use interface, using plain language and with a focus on harm reduction.

This beautifully designed, first of it's kind website was made by pharmacists, nurses and doctors specifically for young people.

Developed at BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) and first launched in 2013, DrugCocktails.ca averages 30,000 visitors per year. The site was designated as an Innovative Leading Practice in 2018 by the Health Standards Organization.
