How much time should children and youth spend on screens?

It might be helpful to know that screen time recommendations vary by age:

  • For children under the age of 2, experts recommend that they not spend any time on screens.
  • For children ages 2 to 5, less than 1 hour per day is recommended.
  • For school age children and youth over the age of 6, no more than 2 hours per day of recreational screen use (outside of school work) is recommended.
