CHILD AND ADOLESCENT RESPONSE TEAM (CART)
CART provides urgent response (within 72 hours) short-term mental health service to children and youth aged 5-18 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region who are experiencing acute mental health crises. Services include: urgent assessment and consultation, clinical intervention, and coordination with community resources. Note that a referral is required to access CART.
DIRECTIONS YOUTH SERVICES
Directions Youth Services helps street youth aged 13-24. They have a drop-in/service centre where youth can find a number of services and activities (open 24/7); a youth detox that provides a place for youth 21 and under to rest and receive medical care; a safehouse for youth under 18 who need a safe place to stay; a street outreach team that provides support, advocacy, and basic supplies; a housing program for youth 18 and under; and a number of other supports for homeless and struggling youth.
