Kelty Youth Ambassador Program Launches!

Brent Seal, FORCE Youth in Residence, Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre on November 18, 2013

Our first full Kelty Youth Ambassador Program has recently launched and the Ambassadors are already doing amazing things!

We have welcomed 22 Ambassadors to our 2013-2014 program and they are already writing blog posts, getting involved with social media and even creating a logo for our program. One of our Ambassadors is working on a webinar to share public speaking tips as she has an acting background, and has some tips for youth on opening up publicly about mental health challenges and recovery. This is something we will share first within the program, but possibly open up to the public at a later date.

We also have a number of Ambassadors signed up to write blog posts for this blog, so check back for those in the coming weeks! There are some pretty incredible stories coming in already!

The Ambassadors are also getting involved in some Mental Health Literacy Projects in development by the BCMHSUS Health Literacy team, including the development of a resource for school professionals that will serve to educate students on mental health and offer opportunities to talk openly about mental health in a comfortable, safe, classroom setting.

We are just about to roll out a second round of opportunities for the Ambassadors, so check back again for more updates and keep your eyes peeled for some Ambassador blog posts!

Until then, Keep Well and Keep Inspiring!
