This webinar will focus on First Nations perspectives and experiences with gambling, through a decolonized, strengths- based approach. The webinar will provide a history of gambling in First Nations communities through the presenter's stories and experiences as a helper, exploring the link to trauma, grief, and, consequently, disconnection from self and from one's community.
During this webinar, participants will:
- Learn about the history of gambling in First Nations communities;
- Explore the link to trauma, grief, and, consequently, disconnection from self and from one's community; and
- Explore how understanding a client's gifts, values, language, spirituality, history and connection to culture can complement one's ways of knowing, being and helping to contribute to enhanced therapeutic relationships.
