Summer Institute Update

We are excited to share that the Summer Institute will be taking a different shape in 2017.

We will not be hosting the conference at UBC this summer. Although our traditional two day event will not be taking place, we are looking at ways to support the ongoing, province-wide and year round professional learning of individuals within the school community, with a focus on school mental wellness.

We will be supporting the promotion of other related events, such as the Public Health Association of BC’s Summer School , and the BCTF Superconference. We are also working to make the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre’s website better meet the needs of its users.

We thank you for your involvement and participation in the Summer Institute for the past seven years and look forward to exploring new formats for sharing relevant, meaningful information on promoting mental wellness in school communities.

Stay tuned for more information on professional learning opportunities! Feel free to contact the Kelty Centre with any questions or comments.

The Summer Institute was an annual event that brought together teachers, school counsellors, school support staff, school administrators, district staff, parents, students and school community partners.  At the Institute participants exchanged knowledge and ideas about how to build school connectedness and promote student mental health and well-being.

The event was the result of an ongoing collaboration with the BC School Centred Mental Health Coalition. Since the first Institute took place in August 2010, over 1,200 school professionals from across the province participated in the conference.
