Kelty Launches 2014 Youth Ambassador Program!

Andrea, FORCE Youth in Residence on July 28, 2014

Are you between the ages of 17 and 25 and passionate about promoting mental health in your school or community? The Kelty Youth Ambassador program can give you the opportunity to meet other youth who are interested in getting engaged and talking about mental health. Together you can get involved in projects that promote mental well-being and initiate dialogue to break down stigma.

Last year’s Youth Ambassador Program ran from September 2013 through to May 2014. Our Ambassadors helped us organize and participate in the Balancing Our Minds Youth Summit event in February, submitted blog posts, gave us valuable feedback on a variety of mental health literacy projects, participated in #mindchat tweet chats on twitter, attended webinars, helped us with a video project, and were given the chance to pursue their own mental health initiatives as well. This upcoming year, our Youth Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to be part of our selection committee for our new Champions of Wellness award. Throughout the program, Ambassadors will get to choose which activities they are interested in and have the time to participate in.

We are so thrilled for another round of Youth Ambassadors to join us in changing the way we look at mental health in BC. The program will run throughout the school year until the end of May 2015. The program is open to 17 to 25 year olds, with or without mental health challenges. We will be looking for youth who are passionate about promoting mental health and well-being. All youth who participate, and commit a minimum of 10 hours to the program, will be eligible to receive a certificate of participation as well as a reference letter detailing their involvement.
