Earlier this year, the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre contacted libraries across British Columbia to invite them to participate in National Child & Youth Mental Health Day. We invited all the libraries to share their display with the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre via email, Facebook, or Twitter.
Vancouver Public Library’s Children’s Library, Coquitlam Public Library, Richmond Public Library, and the BC Children’s Hospital Family Support and Resource Centre all participated in Child & Youth Mental Health Day on May 7!
The Coquitlam Public Library celebrated Child & Youth Mental Health Day at both the City Centre and Poirier branches by setting up book displays and giving out Family Smart buttons, balloons, and stickers! Many of the displayed resources about child and youth mental health were checked out within a couple of days!
The BC Children’s Hospital Family Support and Resource Centre also set up a display which included Kelty Centre bookmarks and resources and Family Smart posters and stickers, and they told us that many handouts were distributed to families.
The Vancouver Public Library put up a display of mental health related books in the Children’s Division, and Family Smart posters were sent to all their branches to celebrate the event!
We want to thank all the libraries who participated for their support and enthusiasm, and for sending us pictures of their wonderful displays!
We at the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre are always eager to support libraries in helping families connect with child and youth mental health resources, so call us if you’re looking for information and resources – we’re happy to help!
