Join our Youth Ambassadors Program!

Are you interested in promoting mental health in your school and community? Would you like to meet other youth who are interested in speaking openly about mental health and being involved in projects to engage people in dialogue to break down stigma? Then the Kelty Youth Ambassador program may be for you!

This past January through June, we ran the pilot Kelty Youth Ambassador program and we had 18 amazing young adults participate as our first ever youth mental health volunteers. It was such an amazing opportunity for these passionate individuals to meet each other, collaborate on projects and participate in mental health events. Our Ambassadors helped us organize and participate in our Youth Summit event in February, our Youth Pinwheel event in March, and with a youth YouTube video project. The Youth Ambassadors also had opportunities to provide input into a new mobile app for anxiety, on content for our social media channels, and into our new eating disorders survival guide. These are just some of the opportunities that were offered - the Ambassadors had the chance to choose the activities they were interested, and had time to participate in.

We are so thrilled to start our new Kelty Youth Ambassador program this coming September. The program will run throughout the school year until the end of May. The application process will open on August 12th and the closing date for applying for the program will be September 6th, 2013. The program will be open to 17 to 25 year olds, with or without mental health challenges. We will be looking for youth who are passionate about promoting mental health and well-being. All youth who participate, and commit a minimum of 10 hours to the program, will be eligible to receive a certificate of participation as well as a reference letter detailing their involvement.
