The popular Healthy Living…It’s in Everyone toolkit for families has been translated into French, and is available to Francophone families in BC who have a child or youth with mental health challenges. Many children and youth with mental health challenges face unique obstacles to healthy living due to the symptoms of their illness or the effects of their medication. The Healthy Living…It’s in Everyone toolkit addresses these obstacles with information, resources, and tools to promote healthy living for these children, youth and their families.
The French toolkit is available in both print and online. The print toolkit can be ordered free of charge by families or organizations in B.C. from the BC Children's Hospital Family Support & Resource Centre bookstore or library. The toolkit can also be downloaded as a PDF from the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre website.
The French translation of the toolkit was made possible through a partnership between BC Mental Health & Addiction Services (BCMHAS) and BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH), the Francophone Affairs Program via the Canada-BC Cooperation Agreement on Official Languages, and Réso-Santé Colombie-Britannique. The Provincial Language Service, PHSA translated the toolkit.
The toolkit was originally developed in English by BCMHAS and BCCH, in collaboration with The F.O.R.C.E. Society for Kids’ Mental Health. PHSA won a Dietitians of Canada award in June 2012 for the toolkit, as well as a BCMA Health Promotion Award. The English Toolkit is available as a PDF from the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre, or in print from the BC Children’s Hospital Family Support & Resource Centre bookstore or library.
